A cat party activity and favour in one
Painting the cats is the craft table, so there's nothing else to plan. When it dries, the same cat is the take-home gift, so there's no party bag to fill either.
The cat is bendy and has a magnet in the head and another at the back, so it holds up drawings, notes and school certificates long after the party.
Cat painting ideas
A few prompts help kids who aren't sure where to start:
- Their own pet: ginger, tabby, black and white.
- A tiger, leopard or snow leopard.
- A rainbow or galaxy cat.
- Matching cats for best friends.
Fit it into the theme
Call the painting table the 'cat café' and give each guest a little name card for their cat. Kids love naming them, and the cards stop cats getting mixed up while the paint dries.
If some guests would rather paint something else, you can mix in caterpillars, dinosaurs or eagles in the same pack.
Questions parents ask
- How many cats can I order?
- As many as you have guests, from a minimum of 6 up to 99 of each design. Every pack ships free within New Zealand.
- What age is it suitable for?
- Ages 6 and up, with an adult supervising. The critters contain magnets and small parts, so keep them away from younger siblings.
- What should the kids paint with?
- Acrylic paint markers. They grip the smooth plastic and there are no brushes or water pots to manage. Ordinary felt-tips and washable markers smudge and won't stick. Our marker sets have 8 colours, and one set covers about 3 kids.
